Habitat for Humanity held its annual Home Sweet Home Dessert Concert on February 8^th at the Pella Opera House. The event this year had a record breaking number of people and funds received to help fulfill Habitat’s mission of working for God and partnering with people to build homes, provide hope, and develop community.

The evening started out with a social hour and silent auction, giving attendees time to mingle, enjoy hors d’ oeuvres and browse the silent auction items. Musical performances by Sydney Lett and the Charlie Koopman Band, a live auction, and desserts completed the night.

A huge thank you goes to our event sponsor, Kevin Van Wyk and State Farm Insurance, local businesses who donated the silent auction items, volunteers, and event attendees. Habitat is blessed to have such a large support system and serve the communities of Marion County.

Habitat will begin hosting informational meetings on the first Monday of each month at 5:00 PM. These meetings are open to anyone interested in applying for a home, volunteering, or donating. The next meeting will be Monday, June 3 at the Habitat office located at 1600 S. Lincoln Street in Knoxville. We look forward to seeing you!

We often need bids for items such as excavation, electrical, plumbing, and other parts in the construction process. Call the Habitat office at 641-828-8844 and ask to speak with Barb or Lisa. In order to bid, you will need to be registered with the State of Iowa.
