The Marion County Community Foundation awarded Habitat $1600 in July. The money will be used to purchase a snow blower and push mower for use in the maintenance of Habitat properties prior to a house being built and sold on the property. Dave Johnson presents the check to incoming Habitat Board President Park Woodle of Knoxville. Also present were Lisa Houser, Executive Director, Board Treasurer Elsie Kemp of Knoxville, Roger Bishop, site supervisor of house construction on West Marion Street in Knoxville, and Board member Lois Smith from Pella (not pictured).

Meet Our Volunteer Coordinators |
|
|
Linda Grandia of Pella is a very active "retired" person who coordinates the groups of volunteers who help build and who provide lunch and refreshments on build days. She maintains a list of contact persons in the churches and other organizations in the Pella area. As schedules for building on houses in Pella are set, she contacts those persons to set up a date for their group to work. Linda, a member of Third Reformed Church, has also worked with many volunteer groups there.
Susan Swartzendruber of Knoxville is a young mom who is an officer in the Knoxville Parent-Teacher Organization. After a number of setbacks in her family's life, they were approved to purchase a Habitat House. The family is so happy with their Habitat experience that she and her husband Kevin have helped to construct other houses. Susan has also accepted the responsibility for coordinating volunteers for houses going up in Knoxville. With two houses underway, that is a big job.
Thank you Linda and Susan!
