Be a Sponsor! |
|
|
Do you remember when you bought your first house -- all the questions you had and the things you had to learn about buying and owning a home? Do you see yourself as supportive, friendly, willing to help a family as they embark on this new chapter in their lives? If so, consider sponsoring a Habitat Partner Family. A family sponsor is a friend and supporter, a consistent contact for questions and concerns, an advocate and guide for the family through the process of becoming a Habitat homeowner. Habitat has approved several new families as Partner Families for the next year. If you might be interested in being a sponsor for one or more families, please contact Lisa Crabbs at 641-828-8844 or

Supervisors needed |
|
|
We need your help! Are you an experienced carpenter or construction worker? We need experienced builders who can serve as site supervisors for our Saturday build times. Supervisors need to be able to work with volunteers of all skill levels and construction knowledge, guiding and instructing where necessary. Site supervisors are paid a nominal sum for their contributions to Habitat.
If you have the skills and interest to be a site supervisor, contact Habitat for Humanity of Marion County at 641-828-8844 or

Why should I get involved |
|
For the family!
- Habitat for Humanity believes everyone deserves a safe, decent place to live! If you agree, get involved!
- Habitat homes are a hand up, not a hand out! We don’t give homes away. Partner families purchase Habitat homes at no profit to the organization. Mortgages are interest free. Read more about family requirements under “Become a Habitat homeowner.”

Volunteer |

We could not complete our mission without our volunteers! Did you know that Habitat for Humanity of Marion County has only 1 part-time and 2 full-time employees? Everyone else is a volunteer!
Volunteer at our build sites!
Check out our calendar and current projects section of our website to find out when and where we are building or give us a call.
People 16 and older are welcome to show up at our building sites and volunteer. No need to pre-register. Just show up and fill out a form! Volunteers under 18 are not allowed to use power tools and must have a parent sign a release form.
Keep in mind that we may cancel our build day if the weather is bad. Cancellations will not be posted on this site.

Contribute |
|
|
Contributions are needed to complete our mission. We do not borrow money to build houses. The majority of our funding comes right from our local community. It takes an average of $90,000 to build a house in Marion County. Current Habitat homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments also go into our “Fund for Humanity” which goes toward building more houses here in Marion County, Iowa. Keep in mind that donations may be tax deductible. Speak to your tax advisor for details.
