Habitat for Humanity Home Sweet Home Dessert Concert a Success Print

Habitat for Humanity held its annual Home Sweet Home Dessert Concert on February 8th at the Pella Opera House. The event this year had a record breaking number of people and funds received to help fulfill Habitat’s mission of working for God and partnering with people to build homes, provide hope, and develop community.

The evening started out with a social hour and silent auction, giving attendees time to mingle, enjoy hors d’ oeuvres and browse the silent auction items. Musical performances by Sydney Lett and the Charlie Koopman Band, a live auction, and desserts completed the night.

A huge thank you goes to our event sponsor, Kevin Van Wyk and State Farm Insurance, local businesses who donated the silent auction items, volunteers, and event attendees. Habitat is blessed to have such a large support system and serve the communities of Marion County.

Pleasantville Rehab Project Completed! Print
Bobbi Rico and her three grandsons moved into their house in Pleasantville in December! This house was the second rehab project for Marion County Habitat. Bobbi and many friends, co-workers, and relatives worked hard on the house and was completed in just a few short months. The dedication ceremony was held on December 9th; we are excited and blessed to have Bobbi and her grandsons as a partner family!  Click on the photo for more pictures.

Habitat Completes Home in Pella! Print
Construction began in late August on the newest Habitat house at 111 Prairie Street in Pella. This house was built by the Pella High School construction trades class, who worked during the week, under the direction of Mark Goodrich and by community volunteers who worked on Saturdays. The partner family for this house is David Littrel and Kara Elsloo and their daughter, McKayla. Construction was completed on the home the first week of March, and the home was dedicated to David and Kara on March 9. Family, friends, and volunteers joined us to help celebrate the completion of the home and wish the family the best of luck going forward. Click on the photo for more pictures.
